The Path of Exile 3.26 update introduces a highly requested but divisive feature

by editor@pcgamesn.com

While Grinding Gear Games continues to cook up improvements for Path of Exile 2 Dawn of the Hunt, attention has now finally returned to its beloved predecessor. The Path of Exile 3.26 league, Secrets of the Atlas, has been a long time coming - more than a decade since it first launched, the original PoE still remains the greatest and most substantive ARPG around for the time being, but it's sat on the back burner for almost a year due to the PoE 2 launch. Now, GGG is ready to bring us back, and it's already unveiled some fundamental changes. Read the rest of the story... Path of Exile 2 Dawn of the Hunt endgame mechanics explained

by Russell Adderson

Path of Exile 2 basically exists as two different games: the campaign, and the Atlas of Worlds. Once you get to the Atlas, you'll start progressing through 15 tiers of waystones until you get to the very toughest monsters. Along the way you'll start to encounter all sorts of new mechanics and challenges, most of which will add some sort of horrible danger in exchange for goodies... Read more.

While we wait on Path of Exile 3.26, new custom leagues are here to fill the gap

by editor@pcgamesn.com

If you're still waiting for more Path of Exile 2 changes to roll out before returning to Grinding Gear Games' ARPG sequel, there's plenty of choice. Last Epoch Season 2 is a real winner, and a perfect excuse to discover the fighty newcomer's excellent additions to the genre. Torchlight Infinite Sandlord splashes a little city builder into the fast-paced free Steam game. Diablo 4 Season 8 is also around the corner. But if all you want is Path of Exile 3.26, GGG has a delightful little stopgap for you to make the wait more bearable once the current Legacy of Phrecia event ends. Read the rest of the story... 3.25 End-of-League Private League Events

by CommunityTeam_GGG

With the Legacy of Phrecia event coming to an end on April 23rd PDT, and 3.26 still slated for a June release, we’re creating free Private League templates to help fill the gap! Today’s news post goes into more detail about what to expect! Next week we’ll add 15 Private League templates for PC that you'll be able to create for free with up to 20,000 players in each event. We are planning to have these templates available for a month, approximately until the end of May. A private league template means you will not be able to add your own modifiers like you would normally be able to. We’ve tried to ensure there is an event for every type of player! All of these events are based on Settlers league. For players who just want to try things out with nothing too complicated or dangerous we have: Just Settlers - Pretty self explanatory, it's just Settlers league. Idols - Atlas Passive Tree has been replaced with the Idol system from Legacy of Phrecia. Alternate Ascendancies - All Ascendancies ...

After a disastrous recent update and a flurry of attempts to fix it, Path of Exile 2's next patch will bring 'two highly sought after improvements'

by Rick Lane

Path of Exile 2's recent 0.2.0 update did not go down well with players. The update unleashed nerf-a-geddon unto numerous classes and abilities, while also making monsters tougher by fattening their health bars. The purported aim of the update was to make the later game more challenging. But the effect, at least according to players, was that it made the game feel way too slow, denying them that sense of empowerment and rapid progression that is at the heart of ARPGs... Read more.

Respeccing Ascendancy Classes And More

by CommunityTeam_GGG

As the week wraps up, we've pulled together a list of changes we're targeting for deployment in a patch mid next week. We've been busy making improvements to Path of Exile 2—here’s what’s on the way. One of the most requested features we have had is the ability to respec Ascendancy classes. However, something that was important to us is to make sure that while it can be done, it does require some level of effort. We have implemented it in the following way: Redoing an Ascendancy Trial allows you to respec which Ascendancy Class you have chosen at the Ascension device, but only if the Trial would grant you the number of points you already have. In order to respec your Ascendancy class, you must have zero points allocated in it, but you can now open the Respec window at Balbala or the Trialmaster who are standing next to the Ascension device. Ultimatums that have 7 chambers and thus grant up to 4 Ascendancy points now can be done from level 55 down from 60. Ultimatums that have 10 chambe...

Best Huntress starter build in Path of Exile 2

by Russell Adderson

The Huntress is Path of Exile 2's newest character class, a fearsome Azmeri warrior who hunts monstrous wild creatures armed with a buckler and her trusty spear. She darts in and out of combat, effortlessly parrying attacks while transitioning between melee and ranged combat in a mesmerizing, graceful dance of violence and death. Or, if you're like me, she grabs a crossbow and blasts everything in sight... Read more.

Path of Exile 2's nerf-happy update has the playerbase revolting, review-bombing their baby, and scorning the developer's promises: 'Like reading a Blizzard post on fixing Diablo 4'

by Rich Stanton

Last week saw a major patch for Path of Exile 2 that made a bewildering range of alterations to the game, with the headline message being that almost everything got nerfed. The goal was to improve the endgame experience by making it more challenging for players: but after a few days in the wild, it looks like all Grinding Gear Games has done is hack people off... Path of Exile 2's disastrous new update reveals the core tension at the heart of its design: How do you make a game with meaningful combat when everyone just wants to blast monsters?

by Russell Adderson

Path of Exile 2 has been a polarizing game right from the beginning. Those of us who have sunk an impossible number of hours in the original were used to a certain pace, one that's familiar to players of isometric ARPGs more broadly—blast monsters, collect loot, blast monsters faster... Read more.

Dawn of the Hunt is Path of Exile 2's most contentious update, but it's also the most fun I've had with ARPG necromancy, well… ever

by Sean Martin

Dawn of the Hunt hasn't been the smoothest update for Path of Exile 2. Whether it's the nerf-a-geddon that hit just about every build in the game, or its newfound grindiness as you butt your head against boss after boss, where previously you would've sailed through without too much difficulty. Damage is lower, enemies are tankier, and you'll definitely feel the escalation as you move from area to area, especially early on... Read more.

Path of Exile 2's latest patch notes are so bewilderingly vast I got a sicko to help translate, and to summarise: It's nerf-a-geddon!

by Rich Stanton

Do you know what would be nice? To look at the latest patch notes for Path of Exile 2, think "holy stromboli no-one's got time to read all that bro", and then close the tab. Some of us can't do that. Some of us get assigned to inform and summarise... Read more.

Path of Exile 2 director says it may not leave early access in 2025: 'I want to get it done this year, but we'll see how things go'

by Andy Chalk

Path of Exile 2 players hoping the game will go into full release this year may need to be a little more patient than expected. In an interview with PC Gamer, game director Jonathan Rogers said Grinding Gear Games still hopes to wrap up early access in 2025, but it "may take a little bit of extra time.".. Read more.
