Path of Exile 2 speedrunner dominates official race with the game's 'worst' class

by Russell Adderson

Path of Exile 2 has been out in early access since December, and now that the initial hype has died down we're all in kind of a waiting room until they add more content. In the meantime, GGG is running some smaller events to engage the community, and an early frontrunner for the game's worst class just absolutely demolished the competition in our first official race... Path of Exile 1 is suddenly beating PoE 2 on Steam as GGG transforms the endgame

by editor@pcgamesn.com

It's a great strategy from Grinding Gear Games, keeping both Path of Exile and Path of Exile 2 alive and fresh at the same time. If you love the original ARPG and don't want to jump ship for the sequel, that's fine. If you want to throw all your weight behind the new PoE, that's fine, too - you can even play both. Originally, Path of Exile 1 was scheduled to go quiet for a while so GGG could focus on PoE 2. But the opposite has happened. Thanks to an emergency, 'experimental' event, Legacy of Phrecia, Path of Exile 1 has just overtaken its younger sibling on Steam. Read the rest of the story... As Path of Exile 2 rolls on, PoE 1's lead dev may have left Grinding Gear Games

by editor@pcgamesn.com

Between Last Epoch, Diablo 4, Lost Ark, and dozens of others, there's a lot of competition in the ARPG world right now. Slick mechanics and eye-catching design help you stand out, but developers will tell you that the secret to success is having a good bond with your community. The launch of Path of Exile 2 has been occasionally bumpy, but largely, Grinding Gear Games still gets a lot of love from its players. Chris Wilson, who served as lead designer and co-director on the original PoE, has been a mainstay on GGG forums and became the 'face' of the studio during the original game's creation. However, official documents suggest Wilson may have left. Read the rest of the story... Path of Exile reveals 19 new subclasses for its wild, month-long event

by editor@pcgamesn.com

Path of Exile has just fully unveiled its Legacy of Phrecia event, and given that it's a rather last-minute make-good with the community after saying that support for PoE would pause to focus on Path of Exile 2, I'm shocked at how stacked it is. Legacy of Phrecia puts Path of Exile's 19 Ascendancy classes in the bin, and casually whips up 19 fresh ones to replace them. Oh, and it's out next week. Read the rest of the story... Path of Exile's Legacy of Phrecia event changes the ARPG's endgame completely

by editor@pcgamesn.com

Watching Grinding Gear Games experiment is a fascinating thing. The original Path of Exile is a beloved spiritual successor to Diablo 2 that's still active, better than ever after more than a decade, and which is expected to run alongside its sequel for the foreseeable future. But recently, we were told that - for a short while at least - PoE 1 was going to sit dormant, with GGG fully focused on ensuring smooth, timely updates for Path of Exile 2. And yet, after players lamented news that PoE 1 would fall silent, GGG has responded by crafting an emergency, 'experimental' event that promises to be one of the most unique and interesting in its history.
