Fortnite's Fallout stuff arrives today, because we all need to see a guy in power armour chug Nuka Cola while hitting the griddy

by

It's been a big few months for Fallout, mainly thanks to that little TV show you might have heard about, but also some updates to Fallout 4 that've, er, garnered a pretty mixed reaction. Now, though, the series has really made it into the mainstream - starting today, some stuff from it's in Fortnite. Yup, stop worrying about your VATS not working like it should, it's time to shake your gyatt by hitting the default dance and skibidi toilet with high level rizz into the litness, my dudes. I'm 25, and life already scares me. We'd already gotten a few sneak peeks at the T-60 power armour - very much the in-vogue power armour since Fallout 4 dropped - which is being added to Fortnite as part of Chapter 5 Season 3. Dubbed Wrecked, this season's also bringing bottles of Nuka Cola to the game, which you can chug to restore ypur health and a bit of shield. Read more

Thankfully, Fallout 4's next-gen update part two sounds like it shouldn't have caused too much trouble for Fallout: London

by

After Fallout 4's next-gen update forced its creators to abandon their planned release date of April 23, Fallout: London has been left in what's felt like a bit of a purgatory. Behind the scenes, however, the modders have been working very hard to get it ready to release in a form that'll work with these latest changes to Fallout 4. Thankfully, it sounds like Bethesda's latest tweaks won't cause too much of a hold-up. If you're out of the loop, Fallout: London's a full conversion mod for Fallout 4 that's set to let us explore a post-apocalytic version of the English capital, complete with fresh factions and quests. We've been getting regular updates from the team behind it over the past couple of years, and now things are slotting in place to finally let us take to the streets of London, whenever those streets are deemed 100% ready. Speaking to TheGamer on the same day the second part to Fallout 4's next-gen update dropped, Fallout: London project lead, Dean 'Prilladog' Carter seemed t...

Look, Fallout 4's next-gen updates might have made things tricky mod-wise, but here's a Fat Man that fires cuddly IKEA sharks

by

The next-gen update to Fallout 4, and its less heralded sequel , have proven a bit annoying for a lot of PC players who aren't too bothered about the new additions they bring. Why? Well, because they've messed with a lot of important mods, as game updates tend to do. But it's ok, folks who've chosen to stop their copy updating, here's a mod that'll stop you feeling like you're missing out on one of the update's actually good things - the Piggy Bank Fat Man. Yup, forget about those poor folks who're wondering when a fix might drop for their VATS issues. The real people who're hard done by here are those of us who'd had to forego some fun weapons because we don't want to patiently wait for things to be updated. Enter 'Blahaj Tactical Support', a mod from Herby247 that gives you a Fat Man which fires explosive versions of the cuddly IKEA (other furniture shops are available) shark named Blahaj - which has become an iconic image of LGBTQ+ positivity in recent years. This isn't the first ti...

Remember the Fallout TV Show's iconic Roomba Robobrain? It's coming to Fallout 4, but devastatingly not as an adorable follower

by

Warning: Spoilers for Amazon's Fallout TV Show lie ahead. Ok, so, you remember that bit in the Fallout TV Show when Norm finally discovers the truth behind the experiment that's been going on in his and Lucy's home vault? More specifially, do you remember a certain little funny robot that's by his side when he learns exactly what's being going down. Well, a modder's now working on bringing that Roomba Robobrain to Fallout 4, but sadly not as the world's most adorable Dogmeat subsitute. Yup, stop crying because Fallout 4's next-gen updates have - probably - messed up your load order, it's time to think about downloading something kinda bizarre that you'll inevitably forget about, then encounter midway through a modded playthrough and think 'oh, when did I install that?'. Hey, at least this time it's not pictures of Walton Goggins' face that'll make you feel things downstairs. Read more

The first patch for Bethesda's busted Fallout 4 next gen update leaves its biggest problems intact, and you're still better off downgrading the game

by Joshua Wolens

Fallout 4's 14.4GB "next gen" update dropped at the end of April, dovetailing neatly with the very popular Fallout TV show on Amazon. It promised all sorts of bells and whistles to bring the (nearly decade old, my god) game up to date to the standards we expect from videogames in 2024... Read more.

Fallout 4's latest update has stopped explosive piggy banks turning into red signs, but VATS issues persist

by

The weird second part of Fallout 4's next-gen update, which we first learned about last week, arrived yesterday, bringing with it a host of fixes mainly aimed at getting the game to run and look a bit better. It's also fixed one of the funniest issues folks had reported experiencing with the first update, though other problems look to persist. If you're just catching up on things, a lot of the big complants folks had about Fallout 4's next-gen update have involved problems that've since been resolved or the effect it's had on mods. Though, there were some other pesky issues highlighted around its release, a couple of which look to still be a thing. First, the good news. Players are reporting that the fun new makeshift weapons featured in the quest 'When Pigs Fly' are no longer being replaced by the big red signs that usually signify a texture issue of some kind - something some folks had reported experiencing when delving into the next-gen update for the first time. This includes the n...

New Fallout 4 patch does little to fix next gen update problems

by editor@pcgamesn.com

It's a strange time to be a fan of Fallout. On one hand you have the TV series bringing the games to a wider audience and successfully nailing the feel better than you could've hoped. You've got Fallout 4 more popular than ever but on the other hand, there's the next-gen update. Its launch introduced a ton of new issues to the game and didn't achieve what it set out to do, especially on PC. A second patch has just launched to try and fix some of these issues but unfortunately it still isn't going well. Read the rest of the story... Fallout 4's next-gen update is broken, but don't worry, some fixes are coming next week

by

History repeated itself when Fallout 4's next-gen update arrived broken, but Bethesda has promised an update is coming next week. It must be written in a contract somewhere that anything Bethesda does with Fallout 4, it has to be buggy as all hell, because that's the only reason I can imagine the game's next-gen update released in the state it did. Maybe it's just tradition too, but it is a bit of a pain nonetheless, so much so that some of Fallout 4's most popular mods recently were just ones that got rid of the update. Thankfully, though, it seems like Bethesda is working on some fixes for the update. As Bethesda shared in a post from its official Twitter account, "On Monday, May 13 we will be updating Fallout 4 on all platforms. This update will include new options for graphics and performance settings as well as further fixes and improvements. Thanks for your continued feedback and support!" Whether that'll outright fix all of the update's problems, we'll obviously have to wait unt...

Underwhelming Fallout 4 next gen update finally getting fixed

by editor@pcgamesn.com

The Fallout 4 next gen update was a disaster. We knew it was likely to break mods upon release, but a spate of other issues immediately cropped up on all platforms, not just PC. While Fallout 4 enjoyed its best player count in years thanks to the success of the show, we were all met with a mess of a patch that Bethesda has finally promised to fix, and we don't have to wait long. New Fallout 4 mod finally makes the Minutemen actually useful

by editor@pcgamesn.com

While Fallout 4 may not be the best game in the series, the success of Amazon's Fallout TV show has renewed interest in the 2015 post-apocalyptic adventure. Its Minutemen faction is widely regarded as a nuisance, constantly cloying for your attention and begging you to defend settlements - the job that it's supposed to be doing. Finally, a mod has overhauled the faction and turned it into something worth rebuilding. Read the rest of the story... All four modern Fallout games catapulted into the most-played games on Steam Deck this past month

by Jonathan Bolding

It's no secret that the Fallout show was a big success, with Amazon saying it was the streaming arm's biggest hit since The Rings of Power, with 65 million viewers. It's also no real secret that successful videogame shows make people want to play the games, but it is pretty cool to see how many go and do just that: This month's little Valve survey of what people are playing on the Steam Deck shows all four modern Fallout games taking a top 20 spot for most-played by playtime... Fallout dominates Steam Deck most played but falls short of top spot

by editor@pcgamesn.com

The renewed popularity of Fallout hasn't literally set the world on fire but it's most certainly started a flame in the hearts of fans, new and old alike, particularly those with a Steam Deck. However, for all this uranium fever of sorts for the series, civilization still prefers the easy living and happy times of farm life to the wasteland's orange-colored sky. Fancy playing the original Fallout remade in Fallout 4's engine? Prepare to look out for a demo this summer

by

While the likes of Fallout 4 and Fallout 76 are all well and good, after enjoying Amazon's Fallout TV show, a lot of us have been left craving a fresh Fallout experience - or even a new remake - to sink our teeth into. To its credit, while Fallout 4's next-gen update has fallen a bit flat, Bethesda does at least seem to be aware of the desire for it to do a bit more with the series. Though, until it can find a way to up its output, mods will continue to provide plenty of Fallout stuff to look forward to in between entries - with one interesting project looking set to release its first demo this summer. Fallout: Vault 13 is, as you might have gleaned from the name, a modding project dedicated to remaking the very first Fallout game using Fallout 4's engine - seemigly in a pretty similar vein to the likes of Fallout 4 New Vegas (no prizes for guessing what that one's all about either). Following the release of a Shady Sands showcase video back in 2022, the project's team has been working...
