Absent a Left 4 Dead 3, modders have just turned Team Fortress 2 into COD Zombies instead

If Valve isn't going to bring us Left 4 Dead 3 any time soon, we'll just have to get our zombie game fix elsewhere, and Mann Versus Zombies is looking like just what I need. This total-conversion mod for Team Fortress 2 transforms the multiplayer shooter into a gradually escalating horde survival experience akin to Call of Duty Zombies. After asking every horse in the area the best ways to enjoy this year, it was unfortunately nays across the board. Unsure what to take from this, Potato.TF decided to celebrate the best way they could think of: bringing back Memes vs Machines! The horses did give one piece of advice: do not release on April Fools under any circumstances! In hindsight it seems this was merely a clever prank. "Valve does not cooperate with gambling sites" - Counter-Strike publishers issue rare public defence of lootbox mechanics, following New York lawsuit

In an unusual show of candour, Valve have spoken out publicly against a lawsuit filed in New York, USA that accuses them of "letting children and adults alike illegally gamble" via loot boxes in Counter-Strike 2, Dota 2, and Team Fortress 2. With the caveat that I am no Atticus Finch-esque legal expert or even a Louis Tully-grade bumbler, I find Valve's rebuttal to be a mixture of whataboutery and tactical mitigation, with a couple of fair points. It basically sidesteps what I think is the lawsuit's most important argument – that lootbox mechanics are fundamentally manipulative. Two weeks after the state of New York sued Valve for "letting children and adults illegally gamble," Valve has fired back with a defense of its practices, saying it doesn't believe the containers in its games constitute gambling under the state's laws and expressing disappointment that the attorney general's office would opt to pursue the case despite Valve's efforts "to educate them about our virtual items and mystery boxes.".. The major changes include: Fixed client crash related to material proxies Fixed Scout.NegativeVocalization04 sounds in Mann vs. Machine not playing because of a typo in the volume (community fix from That Hat Guy) Fixed The Spy-cicle not using its icicle lightwarp (community fix from BreavyTF2) Updated material for cp_coldfront to fix compression issue Updated the prop for Taunt: Heartbreaker to fix a missing material Updated koth_demolition Fixed a player clip on the helipad allowing players to stand outside the playable area (thanks Midnite) Fixed some player clip pixel walks on some doors Fixed a blockbullets floating above BLU spawn (thanks True_Boredom)
